Hands-On Patient Instruction

Team Makena provides complete, personalized instruction to the patient utilizing written, bilingual protocols (as indicated by the treating physician) for both surgical and non-surgical orthopedic applications. The benefits of this personalized instruction provides for improved patient compliance, which facilitates better treatment outcomes.

Team Makena's trained Orthopedic DME Technicians deliver and fit the prescribed medical devices in the hospital, clinic, outpatient surgical center, physician's office or the patient's home.

There are often times when our Orthopedic DME Technician is requested to provide the surgeon with intra-operative or application support for these devices. To ensure ongoing continuity of care for the patient, the Orthopedic DME Technicians will assist in the application of our products in the recovery room and will continue observing their progress in both the acute rehabilitative setting and in their home.

Patient Support

Team Makena provides a patient support team whose primary focus is patient follow-up. This support is available 24/7. As simple as it may sound, ensuring that the patient understands how to use his/her equipment properly goes a long way to ensuing successful patient outcomes.

Our internal patient support team provides continual telephone support on a 24 hour basis. Their comprehensive and continuous training by industry professionals provides our staff with the knowledge and experience required to properly and thoroughly instruct the patient and provide targeted support throughout the episode of care.

The Orthopedic DME Technician provides the following:

Pre-operative training and support to both patient and caregiver
Delivery and fitting of the device on the patient during surgery or post-operatively
Post-operative monitoring of the patient's treatment while in the recovery room
Continued follow-up of the patient during their hospitalization and then in their own home
