P.I.E., Inc. is a 29 year old electrical contracting corporation primarily involved in industrial and commercial type applications. Specifically traffic signals, roadway lighting, airport lighting, motors and controls.

P.I.E., Inc. was founded and started by Dave and Deb Phillips in May 1983 and operated as a small electrical contracting business until 1987 when they decided to form the company as a corporation. Work being performed at that time was mainly service and residential work, maintenance work for small granaries, mill plants and private commercial work.

Contracting and doing business with governmental entities started in 1992. Their first project was the new Whitewood Elementary School; it was also the first project that required a Performance and Payment Bond.

In 1997 Dave Phillips, President became interested in and saw a market for the electrical work that needed to be done in street and highway improvements, airport improvements, parking lot improvements and other areas of commercial and industrial construction projects. So he started bidding on those types of projects and marketing his company’s services to the general contractors and the government entities that do those types of projects.

Throughout the years P.I.E. has done other projects such as improvements to a police department, installed pedestals at campgrounds, have done projects at the VA Hospitals in Sturgis and Hot Springs, SD, abrasive storage buildings, explosion proof applications, bridge work, worked on several water system improvement projects and various other projects over the years.

Most of the work we obtain as a subcontractor and is bonded by the general contractor on the project. The largest single project that P.I.E. has successfully completed is $560,52.00 all work was performed as a subcontractor.

Over the years we have had several projects that P.I.E. was required to have a Performance and Payment Bond for the work. Bonds have ranged in size from $4,683.00 to $180,179.00.
