It was in the month of May, 1971 that a new company, Apex Construction Company Inc., was established on the island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands. The timing proved providential. For this was the time when the infrastructure of the Virgin Islands was beginning to expand to meet the needs of the burgeoning tourism industry.

As the economy of the territory became stronger and more vibrant, so did the growth of the private enterprise. At the same time, the phenomenal growth of the tourism and travel trade industry raised the bar for the quality of infrastructure required.

An increase in the number of hotel rooms, restaurants, entertainment facilities and support services had to be remodeled to meet the ever-increasing demand.
